Want to innovate? Become a “now-ist”

TED
Joi Ito: Want to innovate? Become a “now-ist”
Summary
The speaker is a Japanese man. when a big earthquake hit East Japan and the nuclear accident occurred, he was in Cambridge. He was worried and wanted to know about the radiation and if his family were safe or not. He decided to figure out those into his own hands. He sort of loosely formed a group on the Internet to measure the radiation and to get the data out to everybody else. The group was a bunch of amateurs but they didn't know what they were doing. However, the network power helped them.
He realized that the network after the internet, changed common sense which you had done before and showed new principles. By using the Internet, you can use the power of pull. This is the bottom-up innovation idea of pulling resources from the network as you need.  You don't need to plan everything, you don't need to stock everything and you don't need to be prepared. From now, it's more important to focus on being connected and  always learning. Focus on now, you'll make an invention. You should be now-ist.
◆Viewpoints&Discussion
1. How did he know about its radiological dosage?
He thought that on the Internet, there must be a lot of people like him who wants to figure out about radiological dosage. He sort of loosely formed a group on the Internet, measured the radiation and got the data out to everybody else.
2. What causes the innovation of the system?/ What causes the system of innovation?
The Internet causes the innovation of the system.
3. What is the new system of innovation that he suggested?
The new system of innovation that he suggested is the bottom-up innovation. Without preparing all thing, you can use the power of pull. This is the idea of pulling resources from the network as you need. It's different for previous idea to stock  it in the center and control everything.
4. What is the difference between the current and recent education? What should we learn from it?
The recent education was thought that it's what people do to you.  It makes you memorize something before they let you go out and play.  However, the current education is thought that learning means that you have to do it by yourself.
Now, learning is what you do to yourself. We should know how to learn.
