Gaming can make a better world, Lesson4

TED
Jane McGonigal: Gaming can make a better world, Lesson4
Summary
Why do people play games anyway?
In an ancient time, people seemed still playing game when they had had an experience a severe famine. People had no food to eat. However, playing the game gave them engagment and satisfaction. And then the game seemed to be used to go out in search of a new place to live.
Thus, it's suggested why they played games was to get away from the real world where there are a lot of problems and they had no feeling of satisfaction.
She said that it led to save the entire civilization.
Can't we use it nowadays also ?
◆Viewpoints&Discussion
1. Do you have a special story that is related to a game? Like making friends while playing a game, creating strong bonds, and so on.
No, I don't have.  I had an experience playing dance game every night a term of three or four months. I could make new friends while playing a game and I could enjoy it though I thought that the freindship won't last long. They found other important purpoes and went away from there.
2. Why do you think could old Lydians achieve their epic win? Explain their background in your own words.
I think that old Lydians achievement was not their epic wins. It is because by chance, their old civilization might remain but they would be many lives that will be sacrificed. They would have no choice.
3. Do you believe that just by playing a game, we can solve-real world problems? Explain your answer.
No, I don't think so. It is because I think that by playing games, only winners can get attention.  These winners can never solve-real world problems.
