TED 2009
Seth Godin 2: The tribes we lead (transcript)
Summary
I couldn't get the point of this TED talk until I saw the cover of the book the speaker wrote.
I've read it before in Japanese. The back cover of Japanese edition has been used one picture that was gathering people because the title was Tribes. It means this time, new human social units give ordinary people the power to lead and make big changes by sharing ideas and values.
In the past, our ideas spread through the factory, TV, and leadership, but thanks to the internet, the explosion of mass media and a lot of other things that are bubbling our society around the world, new tribes are created everywhere, then. The internet didn't homogenize everyone, it can easily find each other who has the same curiosity and something that they want to be connected, instead.
We love ideas that we can challenge the status quo, build a culture and connect each other.
We don't need charisma at first. Our commitment will be grown by the tribe. Everyone can naturally take part in the tribe they favor without being pursued.
In fact, I am in the picture of the back cover.
