Aomawa Shields : How we'll find life on other planets (transcript)
Summary
Understanding contradictions around us seems to help us find something.
The speaker is an African American female astronomer but a classically trained actor.
She teaches astronomy to students but they are only girls of color.
They study science but they learn theater, writing, and visual art also.
Then in the universe, there are many beautiful exoplanets that orbit at the right distance from some stars and where there is water and life. The planet where they exist seems to be only our Earth, though.
However, nowadays, we started to understand what kind of atmosphere a planet would need to have a suitable climate for water and life.
We can't still see the planet where another life exists with our naked eyes, or even with the most powerful telescopes we currently possess.
She hopes to continue the observation and that future telescopes show us the planet where there are signs of life, though.
