Top 10 New Year's Questions for 2024

Top 10 New Year's Questions for 2024

Hi! I came back here for the first time in two years!!

Today, December 17, 2023, l am pretty good at reading English articles, thus l think that l want to write a lot of things again!

In 2021, I lost my motivation to study English because l was laughed at by many English teachers. Thus, l decided not to write summaries of TED talks until I can speak English well. I used my time to practice pronunciation a lot.

1. What did you learn about yourself from this year 2023?

The best remedy was hard work.

2. Which relationship meant the most to you this year and why?

Believe yourself. Don’t listen to other people’s advice.

3. What was one of the biggest challenges you faced this year and how did you handle it?

I could continue to take lessons and practice pronunciation. And Then I came back here.

4. What was one of your proudest moments from this year and why?

l try to write something here…

5. What was one of the most meaningful compliments you received this year? Why was it so meaningful to you?

It’s not too late. I can continue to work, study, and dance!

6. What did you do for fun this year? What was one of your favorite memories?

I worked hard, and my company is doing well.

7. If you could change one thing from this year, what would you change and why?

8. What was the most meaningful thing someone did for you this year?

You emailed me for the first time in a year. Thank you so much.

brag / big talk, tall tale

10. Given all your experiences, insights, and lessons learned from 2023 what's the best advice you could give yourself for 2024?

Just, I work hard.

Awe

My English textbook taught me the word: Awe. It was the first time when l knew about it.

I was in awe of your presence when I met you. And then, l want to say thank you to you, now.

Awe means a feeling of deep respect mixed with fear or wonder. It can be found in nature, music, visual art, architecture, etcetera, and occurs when we encounter things that are vast, beyond our understanding, and mysterious. It is not simply about shock value, as it invites us to learn, and “GROW”… that is my favorite word.

However, recognizing feelings of awe can be challenging. People don’t often understand what it feels like and miss it, but it is important.

In conclusion, creating awe can have great effects on our well-being and overall satisfaction in life. By seeking out experiences that inspire awe, whether in nature, art, or everyday observations, we can find greater happiness, improved social connections, and a sense of wonder in the world around us.

I am happy thanks to you.

Father’s Day

Thank you for reminding me my father.

A dead body has to be cremated by law in Japan. On the day of my father’s funeral, my brother’s sons put their letters that were written by Japanese characters they just started to learn on my father’s body in the coffin. They are too small to understand about death. However, they picked up his bones to bury.

The life is inherited.

My father often told my mother, my sister and me that boys are important to protect a family lineage and its grave.

My mother gave birth to a boy finally. My father was so happy and he told a baby: my brother about a successor every day. He was a kid yet.

I was worried about if my baby would not be a boy. Miraculously, my brother was proudly relieved when his wife had a boy.

My father’s dream came true and he  sleeps in the grave that he told us always.

l think this is the reason l couldn’t talk to my father anything, however, there was love. l have no regrets.

I’m sorry that I’m not sure about when l would visit my father’s grave.

It’s because…

The spiral

“The spiral in psychology means that when you make a spiral you always come over the same point where you have been before, but never really the same, it is above or below, inside, outside, so it means growth.”

My English textbook gave this story. I was really moved. I think that all things, e.g. businesses, studying English, thinking of something, and human life are like this spiral and it means growth. l want to spend my life like that.

1. Do you agree that the spiral is a fascinating shape?

Yes, I agree that the spiral is a fascinating shape. The greatest part that l think is that it means growth. I was really moved about it.  I think that all things, for example, businesses, studying English, thinking of something, and human life are like this spiral and it means growth. l want to spend my life like that.

In the article, there were many examples of the spiral that it is in the whorl of our fingerprints, a snail’s shell, in the double helix of our DNA, the eye of a hurricane, in the path of draining water, and winds through the heart of our galaxy.

2. Do you think it is better for architecture to have simple or complicated designs?

I think it is better for architecture to have simple designs. It's because it is really difficult to remove something that is an unnecessary thing. We have a lot of things that we never use always somehow. Simple makes me comfortable, and understand something easily.

 3. Do you think it is a good idea to have gardens on a skyscraper?

Yes, I think it is a good idea to have gardens on a skyscraper. It is because to see only concrete is inorganic and mechanical. To be able to see something green is better not only from the outside but also in the buildings.

4. Do you think it is important for scientists to study space?

Yes, I think it is important for scientists to study space. It is because one day, people might have to live there, and studying space gives us a big dream that we might know about what we don't know now completely.

5. Where would you rather live, in a skyscraper or in a small building?

I would rather live in a skyscraper. It is because I like to see views from high places. The usual city looks so beautiful somehow.

 6. Do you think you would like a job as a psychologist?

I don't think I would like a job as a psychologist, though, I like to read books about psychology.

It is really interesting in thinking about the human mind and its functions, especially how those affect our behavior.

You know what!!

Do I look like Monica?
You know what!!
I was told that I looked like a model by an English teacher in a lesson.
First, I didn't know about her, I researched it, and ... I was surprised !!
Surely, there were pictures that her hairstyle might be similar to mine...
#◇%●&△
I decided I pretend to be her and I speak, walk and live like her from today!!
Unfortunately, I am sorry today, I wear glasses and I had no time to put on heavy makeup.

My essay about the covid pandemic, any topic about it, how to fight it, and measures to prevent it in 2021

My essay about the covid pandemic, any topic about it, how to fight it, and measures to prevent it in 2021,  April 18.

In the world, a lot of people died because of the coronavirus. I would like to express my deep sorrow and heartfelt sympathy for them.

That started when orders disappeared. Last January, suddenly world traverses couldn't come to Japan. Shops had to close and our company did nothing. I felt that l couldn’t eat and might lose where I sleep. I was surprised, l lost my senses, l was taken to the hospital by ambulance. I felt that everything went wrong and l fought with you my English teacher. I wanted to forget about the spreading pandemic or didn’t want to think about it. TV news and SNS always gave us a lot of bad news. I felt that no one taught me measures to protect from it. Although l didn’t have work because shops were closed, l went to my office every day as usual and at the same time. I who was wearing a mask often, went the long way about. Ironically, the sky was really clear because there were no cars and people.

I thought while walking, l had time to do something, and this was the time when God gave us. For a long time, many people were busy, they must have wanted not to go to their office and they realized that for working from home, their long commuting time was not necessary. First, they were surprised at working from home with their family, though, and then little by little, a small ingenuity was born.

I thought that Japanese TV, media, and SNS should respect and admire Japanese people more, their efforts have been great, and praising must lead to more efforts, but they only told us companies. I’ve heard that some countries' leaders told people about their victory against coronavirus where people died more than in Japan.

People have to protect themselves, overcome it by themselves, they could do many things, but we couldn’t realize it.

Even during the coronavirus, l must be able to do something that I want to do. I started to study English again and could update my blog pages as far as one thousand. I started doing weight training to have dance class but l haven’t told it to anyone yet. (A TED speaker told in the past that a person who studies other languages tries to practice dance somehow.) When coronavirus is over, l am going to surprise my friends who would gain weight because of the coronavirus. You can start something from today because it’ll take a little more time until the end. I really love my job, though, it might not be needed by everyone now so I wait for a chance with being ready completely.

By the way, in the morning, l sometimes saw a father and his son jogging when l went to my office. The father seemed to be good at it, though, the son’s form and breaths were not good. I wanted to tell the son that and if it’s fixed, the son will catch up with the father or l hoped that the father taught the son about it, however, it continued for several months.

However, only a few days ago, l just saw two people jogging alongside with smiles!! The son has grown up greatly and it must deserve to overcome the pandemic.

To change your thoughts, to enjoy having time, and for me, not to watch TV were important. I believe that humans could grow up anytime and anywhere.

"If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?" Steve Jobs said.

Top 10 New Year's Questions for 2021

Top 10 New Year's Questions for 2021

Finally, I've written summaries of TED talks over 1,000 and updated them on my blog. Next year, I want to train my speaking skills more and update my videos!

1. What did you learn about yourself from this year 2020?

I've learned that it's important to have the ability to concentrate when I do anything. During coronavirus spreading, I thought I had time to do many things, however, I could do nothing. Just, I saw my smartphone, felt bad, couldn't sleep and it was repeated.

2. Which relationship meant the most to you this year and why?

Pandemic and digital gadgets taught me that friendship on the surface was not necessary. It’sbetter to leave there than to have conversations.

relationship /noun/ connection, relatedness

3. What was one of the biggest challenges you faced this year and how did you handle it?

The biggest challenge that I could do last year, it's to get up early and to study English every morning before I starting work, couldn't do it completely this year because of coronavirus. I couldn't sleep well every day, it led to getting up late and I felt bad always.

Furthermore, The one more biggest challenge that l faced is that no one tries buying our company products because of coronavirus. People couldn't travel, enjoy shopping too, and we've not handled it yet. Our company has to serve something that people can enjoy and hold on to during even coronavirus.

4. What was one of your proudest moments from this year and why?

My proudest moment from this year is, of course,  that l got received a birthday cake from THE PHILIPPINES!! The way was going beyond my imagination, I didn't know, couldn't think, and my colleagues couldn't also think about it. Just, an Uber delivered it to me, though, the call was from the Philippines. "This is global or worldwide, the world is becoming flat and near, and it was amazing and great,  said my colleagues who didn't like to study English.

5. What was one of the most meaningful compliments you received this year?  Why was it so meaningful to you?

I give a great compliment to myself. It was great to be able to continue studying English this year.

6. What did you do for fun this year? What was one of your favorite memories?

This year, there was no fun thing because of COVID-19. Just, I walked every day around near my house during avoiding people while wearing a mask. It's because I felt a lack of exercise.

7. If you could change one thing from this year, what would you change and why?

In fact, I started to go to the training gym and have a dance lesson! It's because I felt a lack of exercise. I've already changed and started them.

8. What was the most meaningful thing someone did for you this year?

Although my English progress is very slow, many teachers teach me English.

9. If you were to brag about one of your accomplishments from this year, which one would it be and why?

I decided to have time not to see and use my smartphone a lot.

It's called "Digital Dansyri" which is a Japanese word to describe letting go. It teaches you not only how to let go of physical and mental clutter but also helps you free from stress and purify your mind. It's also minimalism and simple living.

brag / big talk, tall tale

10. Given all your experiences, insights, and lessons learned from 2020, what's the best advice you could give yourself for 2021?

I think that we can't go back, can't return a former condition, it's severe and you might lose your hope, however, it's more severe to think that you can return and you couldn't do anything. This is the time when I can prepare many things.

Debate practice 2

 Debate practice 2

Today’s topic is about office love, my side is a con, and I’m lucky. It’s because people who know me definitely say to me that l can marry my job. I love my job. That kind of me must be able to tell you correct negative answers.

Love is to feel a deep romantic or sexual attachment to someone and something. The office is a room, set of rooms or building used as a place for commercial, professional, or bureaucratic WORK. Work is an activity involving mental and physical effort done in order to achieve a purpose or result to get income. Income is money received, especially on a regular basis for work or through investments, so your love should be for work, result, and income when you are in your office. 1)

In the office, work should be done efficiently to make a profit. Your love should be for efficient work and profit. 2)

Of course, you have to create better products, services for our customers. Your love should be for better product services and our customers. 3)

In the office, even if men approach you, they definitely approach women in order to win their love also!!

It’s not true love Just they want to hear something. You will be deceived and tricked by them. You will be broken-hearted by them and you won’t be able to be there. It’s impossible and difficult to love each other in the same office. Okay!?

And then, you know that during the lockdown. Many mothers and fathers have to work at home. They were really in big trouble in the world !! like the picture. Babies and children must be treasured more than lovers, however, in the world, no one worked with them well in the same place.

Conclusion.

It’s difficult to keep a good balance of working and being children or lovers. It doesn’t exist work and love balance in the same place. Children will go to school soon after all you and lovers have to quit soon. Office love is impossible. In the office, your love should be for work and do love outside, please.

P.S. Debating means that I have to have both side answers, though, l can’t think about the pro side this time. Hahaha

Debate practice 3

 Debate practice 3

Social media has improved human communication. My side is the False side. I’ve read a lot of books to know about current situations about communication, and l understood it. I think that people including you who say that the false side is difficult to answer is wrong!!

Let’s get started.

☆Communication means to exchange of information or ideas.

☆Improving means, you must really know, to make better, increases quality, and become better something. Already, the answer is here. BETTER!!

Can you say that our ways are better in other words improving?

Here are the details.

1)Just increasing in information volume is increasing.

2)It’s also that you can feel that your knowledge might increase.

3)It’s because you can see Wikipedia soon and think that Wikipedia is your skill, but it’s not yours. A lot of students use the wiki as their skill and knowledge and just cope as their report. It’s so bad.

4)Furthermore, you don’t need to go to liberties, thus only reaching information speed is quickened.

5)The world is completely divided by SNS and social media. Not only people who use it but also Twitter, Facebook, other Companies are criminals that create bad situations, problems, slanders, and smears. It leads to suicide, disparity, and wild inequality.

6)To tell a marriage message by using social media is not good communication!! We lose that important communication not only face to face but also having compassion!!

Conclusion

Without having it, we can’t say that it’s better communication and it’s improving.

I’ll show you pictures.

If you research about the exchange. It has a connection. Telling marriage message is changing. It doesn’t have a connection, so bad and sad. People only gather information, though, they are not connected. If you research about social communication. People are soon sick. Many people use social media, but they don’t know even their names. The word: Communication doesn’t show smartphones. For good communication, it’s not used yet.

Last example that the world understands.

Japanese people including me are said that they don’t speak English!! They have studied hard, even for nine years in schools. They use the internet and social media a lot, they might speak English, though, the world says that it’s not communication.

The answer is social media has not improved human communication.

How do you like it?

P.S. Actually, I hit upon the Joke that must get a laugh.

Debate practice 1

Debate practice 1

Today, I’ll tell you a favorable opinion of abortion.

In Japan, in 1948, abortion was justified by the law. It’s because many babies and mothers died of infectious and genetic diseases.

The following are the reasons that l gathered about why the law of abortion is necessary.

1, If those mothers would be protected, they could give birth next to healthy children. When babies in her belly are sick, they might kill their mothers when they were born. They might die soon and they might spread infectious diseases. There are so many tragedies.

2, That time, huge money is needed. The family, doctors, hospitals, and even countries are in trouble. It can save more babies.

3, In the past, only women had to pay fines and penalties by abortion and go to jail, even if women were the rape victims. It’s unfair. Thus abortion has been justified by the law. Still, in some countries, only women suffer penalties, even the reason is sexual violence.

4, In poor refugee camps, sometimes, small young girls become mothers. It’s strange and we can’t believe it. They should study, receive better sex education, and those girls should be protected by an abortion. They don’t have their food thus they shouldn’t have babies.

5, Having a baby means that we have to have responsibilities. With responsibility, deciding abortion is the right choice for not only women but also societies.

6, The demo for banning abortion is often held. I think that it must be that they want to only win elections. After all, it’s not banned always and if those students have been made pregnant, they have to have an abortion.

7, If it’s done in secret, it’s really dangerous. Girls and ladies would die or it leads to sequels. They have to suffer all their lives. In some African countries, abortion is banned, though, it’s done in secret always. Many young girls are sacrificed.

8, Officially, ministers and pastors say that abortion is prohibited. However, l think that the reason must be the same as elections' reason. They want to protect their position. They don’t say strongly that for men, stop sexual violence, for citizens, raise children, and protect girls from sexual violence. However, they only say abortion is prohibited. It’s nonsense. All those should be told with the set.

9, Strong control leads to more tragic accidents.

10, having a lot of babies can be used for trading and experiments. For the prohibition of an experiment performed in a living person's body, an abortion is necessary.

In Japan, the number of abortions is decreasing recently. We humans have to think about the importance of lives so thinking about deeply means that there is a choice.

Conclusion.

1)Protecting a lot of women, ladies and girls, 2)blessing next healthy babies,3) taking responsibility for a better choice,4)avoiding scarfing, 5) and mothers, babies, and our societies become happy, abortion has to be justified by the law. It exists with better education, morals, and philosophy. Our lives are with small lost lives by an abortion always. We don’t forget it and spend with grateful feelings.

P.S. This is a debate for just practicing speaking English and my answers were like children. When I was a student, I didn't study English and debate. In Japan, women have to be quiet and in the classroom, students have to only listen to teachers. I regret it, though,  l couldn’t believe myself to gather the reasons that are not against abortion this time. I’m a woman who loves to have a baby. Dying babies are so sad. The Japanese population is decreasing, (I think that it's not bad) many women couldn’t have children. And then, a story changed my thoughts that I started to think that even if there are babies from raping, we have to raise them.

And there is one more reason that an abortion is necessary that is human desires can’t be stopped. I’ve heard that the law of abortion is for men’s desires. OMG!! Recently, it’s often announced. Not only young boys but also girls think that there is the law of abortion thus they think that they don’t need to prevent pregnancy. Loving each other is a great thing, though, we shouldn’t forget to have responsibilities.

And then, l strongly decided to study English more. hahaha

The 7-Day Book Cover Challenge

Rules. Every day, for seven days, post a photo of a book cover on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, without including an explanation or a review. Then tag a friend to play along.

Many of my friends have challenged this activity because we had to stay at home during coronavirus. However, the 7-day book cover challenge seems to start many years ago to hand down the culture of reading books. I didn’t know and I’ll challenge it!

Day 1 Factfulness
If the author is here, he might give us better ideas to fight against coronavirus...

Day 2  Sapience
The author gave us messages to have to cooperate with the world to overcome coronavirus immediately. His words that I love are “Money, in fact, is a story, it’s a fictional story”

Day 3 What if
In the world, people have interesting questions. I was attacked in those thoughts, answers, and how to solve them.

Day 4 Who moved my cheese?
In the past, I had studied English by using those, though, the CD is already out of date…

Day 5 Alice’s adventures in wonderland
Everyone who studies English must read this book. I mistakenly bought the book of right of the photo.  The left one is more difficult than right, though, so many great expressions are used. I recommend the left one.

Day 6 Christopher Robin
This is a book of Pooh!! I watched the movie also. The most favorite scene was that the owner of Christopher Robin said surprisingly, “Paid Holiday?”

Day 7 a Little Golden Book
When I was a kid, I was given the book from my father who passed away some years ago.

Queen Urges 'Self-Discipline and Resolve' in Coronavirus Speech

Queen Urges 'Self-Discipline and Resolve' in Coronavirus Speech (article)
Summary
This seems to be a rare case that the Queen of England Queen Elizabeth Ⅱ gives public addresses.

By reading this, l thought about two things that we have to do now.

One, the Queen tells us that we have to be grateful to everyone who is health service workers, care workers, and other essential workers more. They work hard in this coronavirus situation. And then, she thanks all people who are staying at home also. I think that TV, media, and SNS shouldn’t repeat only negative remarks.

Second, self-isolating must be hard, though, it presents an opportunity to slow down and pause. This doesn’t last forever, thus busy days will come soon. This is time to study something or to read many books that I can’t do before.

In the world, many will feel a painful sense of separation from their loved ones. For them, together we have to tackle the disease and overcome it.

The Queen encourages us.

Coronavirus UK: Why are people putting rainbow pictures on their windows?

Coronavirus UK: Why are people putting rainbow pictures on their windows? (article)

Summary
A few days ago, in the public address of Queen Elizabeth Ⅱ, she appreciates the rainbow pictures drawn by children.

Why are people putting rainbow pictures on their windows?
It’s because people want to cheer up passers-by. 1)
The rainbows aim to make people smile while they are walking by and also offer a message of hope. 2)
Naturally, it’s used as a symbol of peace and hope as it often appears when the sun follows a heavy rainfall. 3)
Rainbows serve to remind us that there are hope and light to follow even after dark times. 4)

Words in this story
congregate / collect, assemble, come together

I fought with my English teacher.

In the English lesson, a teacher teaches a student English and a student teaches a teacher Japanese. My teacher said that this was a win-win situation.
However, my opinion was different.
In the English class, l want to study English.
Thus l think that l use Japanese, l teach my teacher Japanese, l receive Japanese messages that are translated English, and l am asked by Japanese, those are my loss situation and I was beaten by my teacher.

Speaking time which is shorter than my teacher means that I'm a loser. Not to be able to answer some questions or making mistakes is also my loss situation.
Continuing being beaten is a severe situation. If l quit the lesson, l think that my teacher is not a winner but she will be a loser. This must be a lose-lose situation.

If l could continue having a lesson, though, if it does not bring me better results or I couldn't reach my goal, I'll be a loser.

When l get my goal, l can be a winner, even if l quit a lesson, my teacher that time mightn’t see our win-win situation.

l think that a win-win situation doesn't come to us easily.
I don't want my teacher to use Japanese, she says that I understand well, but I don't think so. I told her many times.

I don't want to be a loser thus I continue studying English!!

I have a bad story that l want you to listen to!

Now, in our world, a mask is completely a short supply, right!?
People have to wait in line to buy a mask in front of the store from 5:00 am. The shop opens at 10:00 am or 11:00 am, they don’t know whether the shop has or not, though,  if it has but only a few people can buy it.
One old woman that day waited in a long line from the early morning, the shop seemed to have masks and it started to be sold.
However, it quickly sold out and one old woman couldn’t buy it.
You must know that coronavirus is dangerous for old people.
And then lt made her angry and shout. “You are young! You who could buy a mask should give it to me!”
A young man said, “No! You should come here more early to buy!”
Her anger increased and she said to a salesperson, “You must have a mask more somewhere in the shop and should bring it to me. Don’t hide it!”

OMG...

This was announced on the TV and TV seemed to only want to tell us that masks are lacking, though, l felt really bad when I've heard it from my friend.
If l was there, l would give it to old women, Japanese people in the past were really nice, however, would it be changing? My friend also said that it’s not good to give it to a person who shout because there is a rule that people have to line up in Japan, though, if all few people who got it give only one sheet to her, she mightn’t be angry but the mask that people could buy there would be 5 or 7 sheets in a box.

I wonder that Japanese people must be kind and humble more and there must be something that is more important than getting a mask. Now is the time to think about what we have to do to help people. We don’t have time to say that the strategy that the Prime Minister decided was wrong also. The world has to cooperate to stop its epidemic.

I run an education program that connects Asian children with children in other countries mainly in Africa through dancing and the internet live streaming. I started this project alone four years ago but now many people and the organizations have cooperated in this project and l have taught dance to more than 15000 children in 23 continues and have connected 3000 children. Yes, and they dance together and they teach dancing with each other and they perform dancing each other and finally, they dance together at the same time by using Skype, Google hangout and so on.

It looks so fun, right?

Why l started the project is... it’s because of my experiences.
This is my childhood.
(Pictures, Laughter)
When l was a child, l was really shy and l didn’t have a lot of self-confidence. I was really shy, but after working for a while, l decided to pursue my dream which was to travel around the world to teach dancing and it changed my life because l build good relationships with many people in the world and we respected with each other, each other’s differences and l realized l also have a value as the person that l am and so I want children to have same experiences so that l started to connect children from around the world to teach, to dance and the internet live.

Actually, yeah, like this and this project always moves me a lot, for example, this is during one mouth stay in Rwanda, l connect, "Rwanda, Japanese," Rwanda elemental school students and Japanese elemental school students for one month and they danced together and they, they made a dance video together.

And there was a boy called Basil in 6th grade. He was like... he was like a leader, he was smart, he spoke English very well, and also he was a great dancer but he, he was a little bit of show off and seems like reluctant, but by interacting with Japanese children for one month, they became good friends and actually his birthday was just Christmas Eve and, and the final day of this workshop was also 24 this December, the Christmas Eve, and l and they danced together. Finally, the Japanese children surprised him by singing happy birthday and the usually nonchalant him, Basil, was severe. Like I'd never seen before and held back tears while listening to their singing become they danced together for one month and they became really great friends and in this ways, l think the world can change through having fun and becoming friends and learning each other, learning from each other. I would like you... l want to show you my activities videos.

I wanner make a peaceful world through connecting people from all over the world through dancing and becoming friends.
