It's time for "The Talk"

TED
Julia Sweeney: It's time for "The Talk"
Impression
This is the story when the speaker was asked some questions by her kid about reproduction but it's funny. If all parernts can answer like her, I think that many family's problems might be solved.
What they talked about was not only reproduction but also adoption.
I felt culture shock after I read this article, because I think that no one will talk about those things like her in Japan, and Japanese adults won't talk about that.
It's wonderful to be able to talk about something like that.
◆Viewpoints&Discussion
1.Do you remember when you were young, how did your parents teach you about human reproduction? What were some metaphors they used about the whole process?
Yes, I do. they didn't explain. and said to me, "If you are much older, you'll understand naturally. If no one tells you that, you'll be able to know."  I only said, "I see."
The metaphor is that animals don't have the words but they can lay eggs naturally. Human is the same. If no one tells you, you'll be able to know it.
2.If you will have a child asking you questions about reproduction, how will you explain it to them in a way that a child can understand?
I don't have ideas. However, I don't want to do something my parents did. It's irresponsible. If I will have a child, I think that I have to tell them having children are essential.
3.Why is it important for parents to educate their child about reproduction?
We have to avoid an unwanted pregnancy or some disease.
Words in this story
hat on / perform or put on a play.
adopted / legally take another's child and bring it up as one's own.

Want to innovate? Become a “now-ist”

TED
Joi Ito: Want to innovate? Become a “now-ist”
Summary
The speaker is a Japanese man. when a big earthquake hit East Japan and the nuclear accident occurred, he was in Cambridge. He was worried and wanted to know about the radiation and if his family were safe or not. He decided to figure out those into his own hands. He sort of loosely formed a group on the Internet to measure the radiation and to get the data out to everybody else. The group was a bunch of amateurs but they didn't know what they were doing. However, the network power helped them.
He realized that the network after the internet, changed common sense which you had done before and showed new principles. By using the Internet, you can use the power of pull. This is the bottom-up innovation idea of pulling resources from the network as you need.  You don't need to plan everything, you don't need to stock everything and you don't need to be prepared. From now, it's more important to focus on being connected and  always learning. Focus on now, you'll make an invention. You should be now-ist.
◆Viewpoints&Discussion

4. What is the difference between the current and recent education? What should we learn from it?
The recent education was thought that it's what people do to you.  It makes you memorize something before they let you go out and play.  However, the current education is thought that learning means that you have to do it by yourself.
Now, learning is what you do to yourself. We should know how to learn.

Hope invites

TED
Tsutomu Uematsu: Hope invites
Summary
The speaker has believed a phrase: "Hope invites" since he was little and still now. His mother told him that. He has become doing his dream work which he's loved airplane and rockets since he was a child. It's because he continues to believe its meaning that it will come true if you are hoping for it.
However, he had given up on it many times. People around him told him, ʺIt's impossible, anyway.ʺ Even teachers told him that: "It's impossible. You can't do it." He had questions what a dream was and it's wrong to pursue what people couldn't do that time, as a dream. He thought that for people, just a stable company was a good one where they might not use their skills.
He realized that people who wouldn't make anything new, told him that. They who have never tried something, made the judgment. The dream should be to pursue what people can't do now. Something that people can get money without difficulty is not dream. People all were born without the knowledge of giving up. Probably, when they heard the phrase: ʺIt's impossible, anyway," they start to give up but it'd take away their confidence also.
He decided to eliminate it. It'll lead to solving other world problems. If the person says or hears  ʺThat's impossible,ʺ give them one phrase,: "Try this way instead, and there is something to do for you definitely. This is the better phrase that helps and cheers you.
It won't be wrong to fail, run away, and not to be able to do anything perfectly. Being incomplete is much better than doing nothing or not being able to do anything. Don't blame yourself and give up on your dream.  Continue to believe your dream. Hope invites and use the phrase: "Try this way instead," each other.
How wonderful it would be, if everyone's dream will come true. You can do it because there's a meaning in this encounter.

Emergency shelters made from paper

TED
Shigeru Ban: Emergency shelters made from paper
Summary
The speaker Shigeru Ban is an architect who has been thinking about environmental issues since long before. Nowadays, this is one of the burning issues in the world. He is the first man to build structures which people can live and stay normally using paper cardboard tube.

When the building is demolished, they are not industrial waste. They can be also dismantled and sent to a new place and rebuild again easily. It seems that they were built by volunteer students. Using recycled paper tubes will lead to reducing cost.
There are lots of buildings to show power or to be used much money from the past though buildings should be built to help people and society among limited budget. And then, it should be loved by many people for a long time.

How I hacked online dating

TED
Amy Webb: How I hacked online dating
Summary
I was very surprised and shocked but I felt the generation gap. It's because my thought was the same as the speaker's grandmother thought. She said, "You can find true love when you least expect it." Of course, I thought that online data and an algorithm won't lead you to your Prince Charming.
Nowadays, online dating is a high chance way that people now meet each other more than usual, and there, an algorithm works. The speaker adds that you don't use just present online system but you should use something which you write yourself on dating website.
It does not need to show you'er beautifull. If you wrote something that you have careers or good things on it, there would be plenty of men for you to date though they would be awful people.
However, you wouldn't be able to put something untrue down. It's important for you to write very, very well, even though it may not seem like it all the time. You have to pay attention about some words, time, photos and whether approachable or not.
Those data should be seen by a man you love. It means that the data she used was the women who were going to be attracted to the type of man who she really, really wanted to marry. So keep using it more than waiting for an algorithm to set you up. You should have your own rules and framework of what you want to do. You don't need to listen to what other people say: "Don't be picky." Finally, She could meet her Prince Charming, in spite of having a high ideal. Next, it's your turn. No, it's my turn. :D

They communicate with one another though they process information differently. Each of your hemisphere thinks and cares about different things.
The right human hemisphere, it thinks in pictures and learns senses from movements of your bodies. Here, there are your sensory systems: hearing, sight, touch, smell and taste. By using those, movement of your entire body is created. This is present moment or right now you feel and you feel energies. How to start a movement

TED
Derek Sivers: How to start a movement
Summary
A leader has the guts to start to stand out and do something alone, even if he/she will be ridiculed.  However, he/she  cannot start a movement.
It is important for starting a movement that a first  follower  has the courage to follow and  show others  how to follow.
A second follower comes. When its followers can gather more other followers, they can start' a movement.
◆Viewpoints&Discussion
1.What do you think is the difference between a leader and the first follower? Would you rather be a leader or a follower?
I think that a leader can start and do something alone. The first followers can gather many people and create a movement.
I'd rather be a leader, because I always start and do something alone and I don't have power which is to follow a leader and to call many friends or to show everyone else how to follow.
2.How can you assess the leaders of your country? Who is an inspiring leader for you?
We can assess the leaders of our country, when our country is growing or we feel happy with work.
It is important for us working people to grow economy. Thus, I think that there will be no longer good leaders.
3.If you were to be a first follower, what qualities of a leader will you follow? Why?
Qualities of a leader I'll follow should be smart. A person usually studies and learns something and reads many books and has a great passion for any work.
It's my ideal.

This is a great story. I think that the speaker has a power to fight tough times or the important person who died might give her power. It made her try one experiment which she crated a giant chalkboard. Someone can share their personal wishs on it with a fill-in-the-blank sentence: "Before I die, I want to ..."
And then. she realized what really matters most to her as she grow and change, when she saw sentences they wrote.
life is brief and tender and two of the most valuable things we have are time, and our relationships with other people.

AR entrepreneurs mapping out mind-bending trip

The Japan Times
AR entrepreneurs mapping out mind-bending trip
Summary
I think that the computers I currently use are great, but now there are evolving more and more.
Just the other day, I have heard that in the near future, it seems that holograms replaces computers.
And then, augmented reality headsets which you can see holograms in front of you has already sold. Many companies in the world invest on it.
If it's the spread of this, it won't be necessary to use phone calls, computer screens and even keyboards.
However, people have high expectations. It's worrying that it's too big to answer.
Its major breakthrough is still five to 10 years away.

A glimpse of the future through an augmented reality headset

TED
Meron Gribetz: A glimpse of the future through an augmented reality headset
Holograms means a three-dimensional image formed by the interference of light beams from a laser or other coherent light source.
I knew holograms for the first time.  I thought that it was something which is just sparkly sequins.
I think that the computers I currently use are great, but now there are evolving more and more.
In the near future, it seems that holograms replaces computers. From your thoughts through a Meta 2 headset, holograms will be created in front of you and you will be able to control its 3D image holograms. It means you can touch it. And then it can replace phones. It's 3D call. In this call, each other can touch and you can send your holograms to others. This is not only to change phones, but also to change the way we collaborate.
The speaker said that those means to extend our senses through a more natural machine. It become the natural and usual machine soon. Today's computers are so amazing.
